No. 01How it works

From idea to stencil:
how this tattoo maker works

  1. A tattoo of a swallow carrying a lavender sprig

    01

    Describe it

Type an idea in plain words — a subject, what it means to you, where it goes. Or start from a photo or sketch.

  2. 02

    Generate four sketches

Four original designs in seconds, drawn as clean, tattoo-ready linework on white — never a copy of someone’s tattoo.

  3. 03

    Refine and try it on

Nudge the details, add a name or a date, then see it on your own forearm before you commit to anything.

  4. 04

    Hand your artist a stencil

Export mirrored, true-size linework your artist can trace, print, or put straight onto transfer paper.

No. 04One idea, thirteen ways

An AI tattoo designer
for every style

A tattoo creator that
respects the craft

TattooMaker is the best place to figure out what you want — and the easiest thing to hand a real tattoo artist. Here is exactly how we keep every design tattoo-ready.

  • Style templates tuned for skin

Every style has a tested prompt recipe: clean outlines, no skin texture, enough negative space for ink to settle.

  • Curated, not scraped

Every gallery image is generated by us and reviewed by a person. No one else’s tattoo, no copyrighted characters.

  • Safe for all ages

No nudity, no hate symbols, no gore. Uploaded body photos stay private and auto-delete.

  • A sketch, not a contract

AI designs are creative references. Your artist adapts size, flow and placement to your body — that’s their craft.

No. 09FAQ

AI tattoo generator FAQ

Still deciding? Here’s what people ask before their first run.

How much does the AI tattoo generator cost?

AI sketches run on credits, and new accounts get 1 free credit. A Standard run (4 sketches on Seedream 5 Flash) costs 1 credit; premium runs on GPT Image 2 cost 3 credits at 2K or 5 at 4K. The 7-Day Pass is $7.99 once for 40 credits with no subscription; Pro ($12.99/month) and Artist ($29.99/month) renew monthly. The stencil maker, browser try-on, font previews and cost calculator are free.

Do I need an account?

For AI sketches, yes — signing up gives you 1 free credit, holds your credits and saves every design across devices. The free tools (stencil maker, browser try-on, font previews and the cost calculator) work without one.

Can my tattoo artist use these designs?

That’s the point. Download a clean design or a mirrored, true-size stencil and bring it to your appointment. Treat it as a strong starting sketch — a good artist will adapt the size, line weight and flow to your body.

Can I use the designs commercially?

Designs you generate are yours to tattoo. Selling designs, flash or merchandise requires the Artist plan, which includes a commercial license.

Will someone else get the same design?

The AI tattoo generator creates new, original artwork on every run, so an exact duplicate is extremely unlikely. Your runs are private by default and never shown in a public feed.

What file formats can I download?

Every design downloads as a PNG. HD redraws (GPT Image 2 at 2K or 4K) add high-resolution and transparent PNGs, the stencil maker prints at real size in centimetres or inches, and every free tool has its own PNG download.

What won’t the AI tattoo generator make?

TattooMaker is safe for all ages: no nudity or sexual content, no hate symbols, no gore, and no copyrighted characters or brand logos. If a request crosses a line, we explain why and suggest an alternative.

Are my photos and designs private?

Yes. Body photos for try-on are processed in your browser where possible; anything uploaded for AI features is stored privately and deleted automatically. Your designs are private — they only appear in public if you share a link.

Your next tattoo is
one sentence away.
